News from the PA Dutch Classic Race

Being a coordinator for a prestigeous race such as the Sun City Million Dollar Pigeon Race brings along its own kind of responsibility. For years I have put my reputation on the line, as my father did before me, to help build this race into something that is considered as one of the very few top pigeon sport events in the world. It also works the other way around: the trustworthy reputation of the race is also positively connected to my reputation as a pigeon sport businessman. In other words: many people believe that if I coordinate for something it must be good just because I already am a coordinator for the MDPR.
One loft races are booming all over the world these days. It is the hot thing in pigeon sport, and rightly so. Unfortunately this boom also draws a lot of sharks. On the other hand it motivates a lot of well meaning but totally inexperienced people to start their own one loft race as well. Only very few individuals know what they are doing, but this is of course the case in any business. Needless to say that with one loft races springing up like mushrooms in every country I am frequently asked to become a coordinator. Keeping in mind what I said earlier, you will not be surprised that I turn most of them down. Once in a while however, a race comes along that I really think is worthwhile to work for.
It is therefore with great delight that I can announce that starting from this year I will be the Belgian coordinator for the PA Dutch Classic one loft race, located in Red Lion Pennsylvania, USA. I decided to say 'Yes' this time not only because the PA Dutch Classic is located on a different continent than the MDPR or because it definitely got its own identity and racing system, but also because I'm convinced that Race Director Kyle Bolton knows what he is doing. Kyle also has a style of open communication, which I like a lot and which I believe is indispensible in this business. This page of the website will be dedicated to all news connected with the race and a source of information for those among you who want to participate in what I feel will become a true classic among one loft races. Beste duivenliefhebbers en one loft race deelnemers,
Het is met groot genoegen dat ik u de PA Dutch Classic one loft race kan voorstellen. Deze wedstrijd vindt plaats in Red Lion, Pennsylvania (PA is de afkorting van de Staat Pennsylvania) in de Verenigde Staten en is vanaf 2008 ook beschikbaar voor deelname van duiven van buiten de USA. Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat deze wedstrijd een klassieker gaat worden temidden van de éénhokswedstrijden. Zoals u waarschijnlijk weet ben ik omwille van mijn verbondenheid met de prestigieuze Sun City Million Dollar Race in Zuid Afrika uiterst terughoudend om mijn medewerking te verlenen aan andere one loft races. Ik krijg jaarlijks vele verzoeken om als coordinator op te treden voor één van de talrijke wedstrijden die vandaag de dag als paddestoelen uit de grond rijzen. Spijtig genoeg zijn de meesten het jaar daarop door slecht beheer (of slechte bedoelingen) weer even snel verdwenen als ze gekomen zijn. Onder andere door zijn open stijl van communiceren heeft Race Director Kyle Bolton van de PA Dutch Classic me er echter van overtuigd om dit keer "Ja" te zeggen. Vanaf dit jaar zal ik dan ook als Belgisch coordinator van deze wedstrijd optreden. Dit houdt in dat ik niet alleen de duiven zal verzamelen en versturen zodat ze met de beste zorgen omringd in de Verenigde Staten aankomen, maar ook dat ik als verbinding zal dienen tussen de deelnemers en de organisatoren, dit alles op dezelfde professionele manier die u ook van mijn werk voor de Million Dollar Race gewend bent.
